Built 1888 - 1889 by architecture professor Konradin Walter, with the collaboration of the famous master builder Peter Behrens. P. Behrens had a formative influence on the style and design of the first decades of the 19th century. Konradin Walter's hotel building is one of the leading examples of the so-called "Nuremberg style". The intention was a historically faithful application of old Nuremberg style forms. Based on buildings of the transitional style around 1600, such as the Toplerhaus am Paniersplatz, which was destroyed in the Second World War, the building combines urban development, reform of contemporary architectural practice and the historicism of the late 19th century.

Very nice older hotel with lots of charm. The location is unbeatable in the heart of the old town, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very appealingly presented, nothing was missing, everything was very tasty and of high quality. The breakfast lady was very attentive and helpful. We had a nice room and the beds were comfortable. The house is old and dignified, it speaks of history, I really like that. The owner is very committed and is trying to turn the property into a gem. I would reserve a parking space before arriving. A bit expensive overall, but it was the Christmas market, so that was fine with me.
The German Emperor is a very beautiful hotel in a good location in the center of Nuremberg. The hotel has been around for several decades, which is evident, but in my opinion, the patina fits perfectly with the ambiance and is a pleasant contrast to the modern and interchangeable appearance of contemporary hotels (which is not necessarily a negative). The staff is very pleasant, courteous, and always friendly. The breakfast is highly recommended; everything your heart desires (at least mine) was available in sufficient quantities, and it was a pleasure to have breakfast in an almost family-like atmosphere. I was particularly pleased that there were no bake-off rolls (a widespread bad habit in many hotels). All in all, it was a great overnight stay.
A wonderful historic hotel in the heart of the Lorenzer Old Town. Very suitable for people who do not like the fancy plastic hotels. The staff, including the hotel director (and owner), are extremely friendly and helpful, the location is perfect, and the building is full of atmosphere. One can easily overlook minor renovation deficiencies. Special features: Three bottles of mineral water in the room every day, a reading room with daily newspapers including the NYT and NZZ! We give it a clear recommendation, we would choose this hotel again and again.
